Merge file into activity issue for Core BodyTemp FIT fields

Hi,

Here are some comments related to issues I've come across with the "Merge File" capability. I'm aware it's still in beta, so this is more feedback to the development team to help iron out issues and/or understand what I may be doing wrong.

a) CIQ fields from a Core BodyTemp (developer_CIQ_core_temperature) that are in the Garmin generated FIT file isn't displayed if this is not the first file uploaded/sync'd for a given event.
b) If the initial file uploaded is the Garmin one, then all the fields are available
c) In both cases, other developer fields such as Moxy SmO2 developer fields are correctly processed and displayed

Has anyone else had this issue?

Here are a few activities that contain both FIT files, you should be able to see them I guess

These should have the Garmin generated FIT file containing the Core BodyTemp as the additional file that was added to the original FIT from the workout.

If needed, I can also create a dummy workout whereby I upload the Garmin FIT file first, and then the workout FIT file. In such a case I don't get the lap information from the additional file added to the workout (another issue?).

Hi Michael,
Were you able to take a look at the files? Here is an example when I first upload the Garmin file and then add the FIT file from the workout, i.e. the opposite of what is above: https://runalyze.com/activity/42619908
In this case, all the data is correctly represented except the lap data that was in the workout generate file.

In summary:
Workout FIT file first + added Garmin FIT file = missing Core BodyTemp data (from Garmin file)
Garmin FIT file first + added workout FIT file = missing lap information (from workout file)

Just as a note: From our side that's not an issue but a missing feature. Moxy SmO2 is handled from us as if it's a native field (that's why it's not displayed in the developer fields section), but raw developer fields are simply not available for merge so far (laps are neither). We have this now as open feature request.

Me again
Suunto now supports the Core Bodytemp natively in their watches, I see the fields in the FIT file but I don't see it displayed in the statistics. I ran it via the Runalyze Fit Viewer and it's all there.

In a Garmin file I see both CIQ_core_temperature and core_temperature. In a Suunto file I see only the core_temperature field (obviously). Are you currently only parsing the CIQ_core_temperature vs. core_temperature?

you are missing one big information: where is the example file?

We are parsing all data series.

Regarding temperature: It's possible that the core temperature is mapped to the "basic" Temperatur data series.

But without a file we can only guess.
