elevation correction does not change track length

Hello,
my watch took some wrong data and I used the elevation correction feature of runalyze in order to replace GPS data with corrected data. Since I was running on a flat track and my watch recorded a top height of about 1km, I tought that correcting elevation would also change the track length. It did not. Why?

The elevation correction just corrects the elevation data series. (like the name says)
It doesn't change anything on gps track.
